Project one: Visit to the Albright Knox gallery

A.) Which artworks make an impact or impression on me? Why? 1]Artist-Victor Vasarely, Title- Vega-Nor, Media-Oil on Canvas, scale -compared to me this piece is taller than I am and in width it is also a bit wider as well, year - 1969 This first piece made an impression on me because the elements used create and lead the eyes to see a sphere coming right out of the center of the canvas! The way the artist used the elements and principals of art to create this piece to make it appear that way is brilliant. 2]Artist- Dan Flavon, Title - Untitled (to Donna) 6 , Media - Blue pink and yellow florescent lights, scale- This piece is much bigger than me in length and width!,  year - 1971 This piece I found to be very impressive because of it's unique media and it's scale as well. It's size and the lights almost demand attention. B.) Which artworks do I feel a connection with? Why? 1] Artist - Jim Dine, Title - Child's Blue Wall, Media - mixed: Oil on canvas, Light Bu...

Exploring Value and The Subtractive Color Theory

1. Discuss what you thought about creating the Value Scale and Color Wheel. I found them both to be a refreshing redoing of something I have done in the past. I do enjoy working with both mediums so this was a more enjoyable project to do. 2. Which media did you enjoy working with the best and why? Honestly I cannot really pick as I work with both mediums frequently. I love both painting in acrylic and drawing which should be reflected in the previous blog posting.  3. What was the most important discovery in the creation of these studies? I did enjoy how this exercise showed the true primary colors. I remember I actually learned this back when I was a The Lead Photo Chemist Technician when I worked at Walgreens. We used to refill inkjet cartridges. We used the refill them with the true primary colors. Magenta, Cyan and Yellow.   4. What is the most important information you learned from watching the videos for this project? What is your opinion of the videos? T...

Project #1: Elements and Principles Slideshow

For this project I choose to capture images of my own artwork and I will explain how they all show the Elements of Design. It will be interesting to analyze my own work in this manner as I never have before. Please note, the images are of my own artwork and MAY NOT BE reproduced IN ANY MANNER without my permission!! It is actually fully against the law. The pictures of the charcoal, pencil, colored pencil of elephants are also covered by the publisher as copyrighted works. They are all drafts, some more complete than others. I do have permission from the publisher and a mutual understanding that I own the works of art and can do with them as I wish . (sell them or use them for this project for instance) Those works are my personal works and the publishers so please respect that. The Elements and Principles of Design: The things with which an artist works with to create a composition.  The Elements are: Lines; which can be curved or straigh...

Color Theory and Emotional Effects

1. Describe Color and it's effects on emotions. Use the appropriate vocabulary of color in your posting. Color reflects on to itself and it reflects on to colors with in the same work of art. Using a bright white canvas helps to keep colors bright. It’s effects on emotion are quite interesting how color can produce psychological effects of anger comfort and warm, hostility depending on the type of red used. How it clashes or mixes with other warm colors. While cool colors can invoke sadness or even calmness it all depends really on what hues and tones of the colors are used and with which other colors they are mixed with as to what feeling will surface yin the person looking at the color. You could create violence or harmony and it all depends on the colors surrounding each other and what hues and tones are used. How the intensity is diminished from just the addition of another color. How the hue can be changed  by tinting with just the addition of water or white to create a color...

Reflections on the ideas of Art, Beauty, Aesthetics as well as their effects on the Brain.

My thoughts on the videos and CNN article: 1. For each video and article list/discuss the key concepts you learned. For the First Video: Aesthetics: Philosophy of the Arts From this video I learned the following key concepts: The difference between beauty and art and how something can be art but not be of atypical beauty. The growth of the idea of aesthetics from how it started with Plato's interesting yet odd thoughts on art in general but no clear theory on Aesthetics to a more modern theory on the idea of aesthetics. I also learned about the evolution of art and how it grew over time. How the idea of beauty presents itself beyond the senses. For the Second Video : CARTA: Neurobiology Neurology and Art and Aesthetics Although I found the video hard to understand due to poor picture quality and the accent of the speaker. (The professor thankfully reminded me to use closed captioning)! I find the topic itself quite interesting as my major and most of my studies have dealt wi...

Perspective of matrials Covered in Week One

1. How was the process of creating the  GMail  account and setting up the  Blog ? The process of creating a new Gmail account and setting up the Blog itself was overall simple but there were a few technical issues and I struggled in creating a title for my blog. I hope I will be able to show how art and the biochemistry of the brain changes our perception of reality. 2. What do you expect to learn in this course? To connect how art is influenced by politics, an individual's BioChemistry and the economy. How art changes the neurological pathways of the brain. Therefore altering one's, BioChemistry which produces therapeutic effects on an individual in a range of beneficial ways from boosting creativity to helping survivors of trauma from Domestic and or Sexual Assault for example. Although PTSD and Trauma can manifest from a broad range of events which is not the normal perception of PTSD. I hope to strengthen and broaden ...
