Art Curation Exhibition, my process and reflection.

I decided to do this on Photography of my own creation since I wanted it to reflect upon the theme which I based off of my experience. I am not sure if anyone else did it this way but I thought why not let myself be the artist! I wanted to create something showing how almost 180 the perceptions of a victim of abuse can be and show this though contrasting ideas such as day vs night to reflect value. Through Macroscopic vs macroscopic photos, when someone has been though a great trauma it can gut you of everything you thought, believed or felt in anyway is now shattered. That perception of our shared reality is now one which is individually for everyone involved skewed into something it wasn't. One thing that is extremely hard to keep is HOPE. Things that have brought me to the point of my life where I was well from that start since I was born into abuse to now 2 +years later is that creativity just flourished in me and I didn't even really notice. It just naturally poured out ...

13/14 Video Review

Questions and Topics for Your Blog Posting: 1. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned. video one "lowbrow" I learned it's about art that is very abstract to the point where someone wouldn't necessarily thing of as art Initially i was used for naked women, and hot rods. That it was used basically to refer to pornographic art but then became more of a catch all. The "space age" era where people were paranoid because of the war, how if anyone who deviated from the norm made them a "commie". How versatile this type of art is. How the perception was given which I can see as correct that if you are going to worry about what they are going to say when you present the art you are doomed. Video 2 won't play for me I get this message when I click the link Video 3 - An Acquiring Mind: Philippe de Montebello and The Metropolitan Museum of Art "a museum is never finished" Philippe de Montebello was the director of t...

Video review mod. 12

1. Explain why you selected each of the TWO videos you choose from the selection listed above. I Picked the 1st video, Isamu Noguchi: The Sculpture of Spaces because I really liked the title and what I thought it would beable which is almost like an anti-sculpture I guess. Very interesting. The second video, Uncertainty: Modernity and Art I picked again because I found the title of the video of interest. 2. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned. Video 1 *Isamu Noguchi has said that the space around a thing is as important as the thing itself, this is very true! I personally think it can be an underappreciated idea. *Noguchi turning landscapes into participatory works of art *That he redesigned a park in florida (bay front park) I am very shocked he got them to knock down a library! 2 works in NY one a red cube standing in the skyscrapers of manhattan and many more ! It amazing his attention to detail! The time he spends just shaping the fountain until he ...

Art 247 Gallery Visit

So I choose to visit the Art247 in Lockport! I love it there, my friend is the owner. It's a gem not enough people know about!! It's on main street at 247 in lockport! I am doing my project on the yearly Domestic Violence Survivors art showing!  This first picture is of the 1st piece I saw. It caught my eye because I know the artist and saw it last year! This exhibit unlike many other does not display the names of the works or who they were made by as they are survivors of Domestic Violence.  Work 1 to analyze!  The second to analyze!  The third to analyze!

Blog: Video Review Mod 11

1. Explain why you selected each of the TWO videos you choose from the selection listed above. I choose "The Impact of Cubism" and "Expressionism" purely out of interest because I wanted to learn more about the topics.    2. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned. The Impact of Cubism *  That Cubism was Influenced by work such as Cezanne, African tribal art, and art of the Iberian peninsula; I had no idea! * Cubism was the most influential type of art in the 20th century and gave European artists atypical,  ways to represent form and space. * How interesting the type of works are, like the 1st one called "the breakfast table" It has at 1st appearance nothing to do with that at all but then the narrator explains and with very careful examination you can see what they are saying. Expressionism * How paint was thinly applied, sometimes dripping off the canvas. *  That it was a growth of Fauvism * How much the form of a woman changes * ...

Mask Creation!!

I choose to do this project to show a grand experience I just had while speaking at UB on December 25th about being a survivor of 2 generations of Domestic Violence. In that speech I found myself and felt re-born or as if I had finally met myself.  I wanted to show Power, Rebirth, truth and the psychological damage done by the 28 years of abuse I endured and SURVIVED!! KEY WORD HERE PEOPLE SO DON'T FEEL THE NEED TO BE SAD OR ANYTHING! (If anyone viewing this would like to see the speech that inspired this comment and I will gladly share it! 4 images I used for inspiration: This shows rebirth or reincarnation. The symmetry in such an intricate in lines, contours, raised levels and depressed levels. The indented lines lines to the top portion and the circles which have depressed centers and raised outers bring the eyes up. This mask was made to show how one was pre trauma to the left and to the right the effects of PTSD which I have. The simple contours to the left ...

video review due 10/4

1. Explain why you selected each of the TWO videos you choose from the selection listed above. I selected Islamic Art: Africa and Central Asia and Buddhism because they sound as if they would relate to my other online class GEO 360 as it is about the Geology of Asia and I thought it would complement the other topics I am currently learning well.  2. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned? for video 1). How Gothic architecture is highlighted by to the arches and filigrees of medieval Islamic Architecture. How there is a location called Samarakand  which is said to be haunted by spirits  and is an oasis. It is called the Jewel of Islam, the city of famous shadows. How many tired to concur this area. The color coding of the architecture of the Timurids to be attractive and lure them to it, as in the desert you "need to spell it out". How Istanbul is riddled with huge dooms which seem to be almost floating....
