Video review due 10/31

1. Explain why you selected each of the TWO videos you choose from the selection listed above. I selected The Drawings of Michelangelo because I wanted to learn more about his drawings and compare the drawings of which were finished and which were not.    2. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned. The Drawings of Michelangelo: spoke of how he was a perfectionist and many drawings were surprisingly destroyed by him. I never knew this about him. 2. How do the videos relate to the readings in the text? I again feel the same as I did in the past. As they add richness and depth to the  3. What is your opinion of the films? How do they add depth to understanding of the readings and art concepts? Comparing Michelangelo’s sketch drawings to his finished masterworks was something which is not easy to do was done in the first video. Which add

project 4 - drawing of hands and reflection.

1. What was it like using your hand as subject matter for a drawing? It is something I have done before but it was fun to see that my non dominate hand has improved although with most things I tend to be ambidextrous in that I write with my right hand but . I do most other activities with my other hand. 2. What media did you select - pencil or charcoal? Why? Charcoal- I always prefer charcoal over pencil. I love . it's depth and dark rich value. 3. How did it feel to create a drawing with your non-dominant hand? It was a little harder but as I said before I am able to use both hands. I actually didn't notice I was using my "non" dominant hand lol when i thought about it I was like oh I forgot I was drawing with my left! 4. Compare and contrast your final drawings. Do you think they are successful studies?  I think that they are I had a few before this one but they improved by a good measure each time. I started this project thursday....

Video Reviews: More Human than Human and The Measure of All things

1]  Explain why you selected the video you choose from the selection listed above. I choose the video The Measure of All Things: Greek Art and the Human Figure. I did this out of interest in seeing more in depth as to how the Geek's in 5 B.C. captured the human form compared to how the egyptians did.   It in more detail discussed the art that the Greeks developed along with realism. I also wanted to gain a more indepth view of how realism was developed. I found it interesting to learn more about how the concept of exaggeration affects the way in which one perceives art. 2]  For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned. In the 1st video "More Human Than Human": It was interesting to learn that Ancient Egyptian statues are worth a large sum of money, although this I did already expect with the difficulty and danger in which would have to have preexisted one having the item to sell. How the human is hardwired to ...

Architecture: video reviews and how they relate to the readings

1. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned.      A) "Architecture: the science of design" I learned through the introduction of new materials about the uses of steel and cement in architecture. I explained how concrete can be poured underwater and how wind plays a major factor in the construction of a building. The video also discussed how angles and lines which are flat, play a major role in how a building is constructed to react to wind. Right angles and flat lines are elements in the design of architecture which react very poorly to wind.      B) "Prairie Style" This video showed a lot of work with home ceilings and great collection of unique home designs. I enjoyed watching the unique creations and the focus on the style of low home ceilings. 2. How do the videos relate to the readings in the text?  Both of the videos I viewed and the text bring to light a topic which I was not expe...

Blog Topic: Video Review

1. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned. I enjoyed the videos teachings of the process of making the glass sculpture as compared to making a sculpture of other forms such as clay, plaster and marble. They were very detailed from the teachings of the videos. With procedure to produce stone sculpture there was a large amount of time put into making it which I would imagine but unlike the text it was nice to see this in a video format. I greatly enjoyed the video about glass, although I did already know about the process of extreme heat used with sand and how it is made it is something I have had a great interest in learning to do myself and makes me want to even more. I want to go visit the Corning museum or the one which my Inorganic chemistry teacher brought up during the semester a few weeks ago. The works he showed us looked so extremely detailed and it was amazing that they were all made of glass.   2. How do the videos relate to the readings in the ...

Reviewing Peer Response to Artwork

peer reviewed blog 1 Peer reviewed blog 2 When looking at Project #1: (Elements and Principles), did you agree with the element or principle the artist listed with the images? Did you see other elements and principles in the images? When looking at Project #2: Where there any images in the Peer Blogs the same as your own? If yes, what were they? Where the reasons the image was selected the same or different as your own? I am not sure what art gallery the person who I peer reviewed 1st or 2nd went to but there were none that were the same so I feel as if I must have really missed out at the art gallery or that they went to a different gallery. I did agree for the most part with why she selected the images that she did and it was very nice to see images other than the ones in which I viewed. Like the  unfinished portrait sketch by Seymour Haden out of all she posted I liked the most and connected the most with. As a domestic violence survivor of 28 years as a victim...

designing your own logo

Rough drafts leading to final product. This was me brain storming This was me getting all the ideas together and seeing how everything would fit. Including gradients , curved lines, and colors picked to evoke feelings. and and emotions based on the subject of domestic violence. Purple is the color for DV and blue is for child abuse and sexual assault. I am a survivor of both and broke a 2 generation cycle for my son. This is were i realized a ven diagram would be best to pull all the ideas together, Final product as a  drawn by hand. Media used: Pencil ,  black charcoal, red charcoal, Prismacolor Premier Verithin on drawing paper made for pencil and charcoal. This is my professional logo which I created digitally and I took those photos of myself by myself and made it fully myself.  1. Discuss what you thought about creating your logo. When 1st creating my logo I was thinking of what it should be about, should it be about ? While deciding I thou...
